prune

There are times for pruning.
Times to step back and study your life.
To observe the shape of it.
To listen to it.
To follow the way of the bonsai.
To do this you must accept who you are;
your strengths and weakness,
your passions and limitations.
Then craft not by adding but subtracting.
What can you prune?
What is not congruent with the shape of your soul?
What will it take to make the cut?
You will sense the loss of it.
It will claim to be you.
But it is not.
It will claim you can not recover.
But you can.
Letting go is a courageous act.
